New WTA Tour chairwoman and CEO Stacey Allaster touched the hot topic of women’s world rankings right after being appointed on Monday.

Personally, I’m tired of players like Kim, Amelie, JJ and Dinara having to be defended for something that’s out of their hands.

Rehaul the ranking system so that it reflects how WTA works. Awarding more points to GS champions may look like signaling that the actual WTA tournaments are meaningless, but maybe it’ll compensate by improving the image of the sport? Those ‘Another Slamless #1!’ articles do the tour no good.
